We are going to the State House in Montpelier this Thursday, May 24th. We are hoping to leave school as early as possible, before 8:00 AM.
Children should be bringing their backpacks with lunches and water bottles (no glass bottles). Extra snacks are encouraged. Sunscreen and hats will be encouraged, although, hats will not be allowed inside any of the state buildings. No electronic devices will be allowed on the bus, but we encourage students to bring books in their backpacks. We are asking that children dress more formally with nice, presentable clothes. If boys have collared shirts and canvas shorts (non-athletic) that would be most appropriate. Girls may wear skirts, dresses or nice pants. We do not expect people to go out and buy new clothes, but we would like them to be neat and clean in appearance as we are representing Cambridge Elementary School. CHAPERONES: We will need all chaperones to drive to Montpelier either independently or with other parents, as there is not enough space on the bus. Drivers should be prepared to park at a meter as the parking lot designated for buses is a bit of a walk from the State House. Please remember to bring a bagged lunch and water bottle for yourself as well. Thank you very much! Oliver's DonationFor the last 3 years, Oliver Foster has been growing his hair out in order to donate it to Pantene Great Lengths. Pantene Great Lengths takes the donated hair and creates wigs for women with breast cancer. In February, Oliver's Mom took him to Indigo Salon, in Burlington where they cut off 12 inches of his hair that he donated in hopes of creating a wig for someone in need.
Dance Day - by Emma Jones As I open my eyes, I smiled big because today was competition day! When I got up my Mom did my hair and makeup. I then got my tights on and my warm up suit too! When we got to the competition, I had to get on the costume for Bibbidi - Bobbidi - Boo! I walked on stage and the music started. I was so into it, even one of the judges was dancing to it too! It was awesome.
When that dance was over I had to quickly get undressed and put on my other costume for Over the Rainbow. This one started off good, but when we got to a certain point we were on the wrong side, so we messed up a little, but we were able to fill in the sports. When it came time for awards we won 3rd place for our performance in Bibbidi - Bobbidi - Boo and 6th place for our Over the Rainbow dance. It was a great day! Friendly ReminderThe 4th grade will be traveling to Hardwick tomorrow to watch the Vaudeville Show. This will be a variety show featuring the best that that they have in circus, music and laughter.
The bus will be departing the school at 9:00 and will be returning after 12:00. We are scheduled to eat lunch at 12:50, so please send your student in with a larger or an extra snack to help get them through the day. This should be an amazing show! |
